David Brainard
A young missionary to the American Indians. He lived a hard life full of ailments and struggles with depression, through all this he pressed on for the upward call of Christ. When he was too sick and had become bedridden, he moved into the home of Jonathan Edwards (another great man for another day) There Edwards would watch and take note of the intensity of this young mans prayer life. He died at the age of 29. After his passing, Jonathan Edwards would compile all his journals and write one of the most important books; aside from the bible, every christian should read. The fire this one young man had, lite the flame of many many others who would carry that same flame to us to this day... a few of the men who attribute some passion for prayer because of David Brainard : William Carey, Jim Elliot, John Wesley was quoted as saying " Let every preacher read carefully over the Life of David Brainerd", E.M. Bounds, Leonard Ravenhill, Robert Murray McCheyne to mention a few* I highly encourage you to read more about him
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about a guy just like us who was weak and scarred and was used for greatness through the saving grace of a Holy God.
